I'm sorry, did someone say "America was founded on the gospels of Jesus"? Wow. I'd like to meet your history teacher.

Religion is morphia for the huddled masses. When you leave the comfort of the herd and go looking for spiritual nourishment on your own, you will find that God is of all faiths and Jesus weeps at the things done in his name.

Hey, what do I know, I've only walked around in heaven for weeks at a time.

No, it would not be any better if we were 95% Buddhist.

As to the gospel and how the US was founded, I think what that other person attempted to say, albeit crudely was the fact that mainly the Europeans that came here to live were at least if not more, 95% Christian. And they had a strong faith in God back then, not all, but a majority did.

Yes, then we could exile them to, China.
They can all get their jobs back and the the other 5% can get that wall built around the south.

I think it would be better if 95% of the population truly explored their spirituality without any man-made dogmatic constraints. Of course, I have to admit, if I were going to adhere to any one religion, it would probably be Buddhism due to the fact that it is not about deity worship, but spiritual teachings and exploration of the spirit.
P.S. - about my screen name (before it's asked). It is a nickname I recieved because I am bald and somewhat round and I am very interested in spirituality, but again, I am not necessarily a Buddhist.

I don't think it would make much of a difference. The USA is a secular nation, founded on the notion of seperation of church and state.

It would be better than a usa that was 95% christian. Just imagine how intolerant this country would be then.

And no...this country was NOT found on christian values, you christian monkey wannabees. It was founded by people of different faiths working together.
