If the father is the first one in the family to get Leukemia, then he'll probably be the last. Most of the time cancer is not hereditary. My 17 cousin had 2 types of Leukemia and he was the only one in the family to have Leukemia. Chances are he's going to be the only one. If and when the father has kids, make sure you check with a doctor to see if you can have kids after Leukemia. I think radiation therapy might fry some things you need to reproduct. When yo get cured from cancer, you'll probably have a few things fried from treatments. When the father does have kids, there's a chance that it might be deformed or something like that.

Many types of cancer are hereditary but I am not sure about this one.
The best person to ask is your GP for starters and there is no harm in everyone being checked, just to be sure.
You could also get in touch with the Genetics department at your local hospital as they will have the best information.

I know for certain that chronic myeloid leukaemia is not passed on as my boyfriend has this and we have a 3 year old son and have been told by his doctors many times that it is not hereditary. I am not sure about other types of leukaemia but if this is something that is affecting you I'm sure the doctors will be able to advise you. If you need to talk to someone who is also affected by it feel free to e.mail me. xx

I don't think leukemia is inheretible. I think Breast Cancer is just about the only cancer that can actually be passed through the family. All others are just the unluck of the draw.
