Hello,
I had a random thought about things such as spies and assassins (I just saw hitman...)
Which one is known for all the secret operations, spies, and assassins, CIA or NSA?
And could someone give a brief summary of what each is?
Thanks, and sorry, ridiculous question i know :)

➔ Military
The main difference between the two is that the CIA is civilian and the NSA is run by the department of defense directly, so therefore is more under military jurisdiction. I've included wiki articles on both, but they both have a history of spying, the CIA is probably more widely known for its large plots for assassinations, etc. but both are involved in intelligence/espionage operations to varying degrees. Post 9/11 both of these organizations have been working together more closely as part of the effort to integrate intelligence gathering.

The FBI and DEA are not Intelligence Agencies. If you want to enter any of these agencies as a civilian, then I recommend that you go their respective web pages and click on the career / employment icon. You will find out all you need to know about seeking employment. If you want to go into intelligence as a military member, then you need to either enlist for the specific MOS or go to college, get a commission, and request an intelligence field. No matter if you are going in as a civilian or military, none of the actual intelligence agencies you list above are any more selective than another. For your example above, NSA is an element of the DoD. If you are in a military intelligence organization and are in SIGINT, you will likely pull a stint at NSA (same with DIA). CIA is a civilian organization - just apply. Army Intelligence is actually called Military Intelligence and is one of many Branches in the Army - either enlist for it, or request it if going the officer route.

Both. CIA is quite literally 40 years behind the NSA technologically though.

Spies are CIA. Counter-spies are FBI Assasins are JSOC. The NSA intercepts electronic communications, hacks computers and has satellites that can tell if your shoes are untied.

You have seen way too many movies. 95+% of CIA's employees are paper pushers, technical personnel, and analysts. The CIA can't even do thier job because of beurocratic red tape.
NSA's job isn't so much operations. Their job is to create encryption systems and break enemy codes. They are cryptologists.

The CIA it is like British MI6 or Russian KGB. There are spies & collect intelligence. Just like 007 Bond role model.
The NSA they protect & the government.

Interesting Q, and "some" interesting answers.
I myself would like to know more about what agencies there are, both civilian and for the government in that type of capacity.
My brother had been employed and was in communications, though he prefers not to discuss all the details, he feels it his duty to leave honorably after 8 years of service to our country.

Its not a ridiculous question at all.
Try looking over the pages at CIA.gov and NSA.gov...and don't miss their respective children's pages.
