Perhaps I was too harsh?? I did not mean to be so critical of the British for what they did to Hamburg and Dresden when they bombed it during WW2.I was in Dresden in Oct 2003 and Hamburg in Sept 2006. Both cities are very beautiful of course especially Dresden. The Speicherstadt or warehouse district of Hamburg is beautiful as well.I realize that the Nazis did some serious damage to the UK....I think some very old historical buildings were destroyed not to mention human lives.I'll go back to London this Winter Break Feb 2008 for a little cheap getaway as well as go to berlin to visit some friends of mine.

Nobody wins in a war because beautiful buildings have to be destroyed to fight enemies.

harsh? is not the word, perhaps you just did not read the history of world war II ? apparently, you did not see Europe? have you ever been to France? and seen the destruction? and the UK? did you see the UK?
if i remember correctly? the Germans declared the war? here? this is for you:
Germany started World War II by invading Poland on September 1, 1939.# Britain and France # responded by declaring war on Germany on September 3. Within a month, Poland was defeated by a combination of German and Soviet forces and was partitioned between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

You didn't really ask a question, but I admire your willingness to reconsider your point of view.

As an American, I accept your apology on behalf of the British people :)

The information you gave us was informative. But the only question i read in all the lines was:

Q. Perhaps I was too harsh??

A. No, you were not. Reality is a reality. :-)

Trust me.
