The Bible tells us He was our Creator, the great I AM.
God does not want you to hang your faith on air, and has given evidence in the Bible, such as the "creation wound" in Adam's side pointed to Christ's side-wound at Calvary.
There is a Bible code that proves He is your Creator and the Messiah. You need read it because it was "sealed" until our time. See http://abiblecode.tripod.com
If you have any more questions, I'll be glad to answer them by e-mail.
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

It's very simple. In order to be monotheistic (and therefore a spiritual descendant of Judaism), Christianity has to believe in only a single god. But a major part of Jesus' job description was putting humanity back in God's favor. Since no other human had managed to satisfy the requirements before, Jesus had to be more than an ordinary human. And some purported Christians were satisfied with that: Jesus, more than human, less than God.
Unfortunately, that didn't answer the question of what Jesus WAS. He couldn't be an angel because angels aren't human. They couldn't call him a demi-god because that would reduce him to the status of a Heracles or other pagan "hero". A few Christians suggested he was simply God masquerading as a human, but that wouldn't be all that much different from other divine interventions that failed to fix the divine-human relationship.
So Jesus HAD to be human in order to matter to humans, and he HAD to be God to matter enough to God. The fact that it looked like he was talking to-- himself could be explained because humans can't really comprehend all of God's capabilities. Yes, it took a couple hundred years for Christians to figure it out, but they're sticking to their story.

Jesus said "I and the Father are one." In John 10:30.
His prophetic name according to Isaiah is Emmanuel, or "God with us."
He said that "before Moses was, I Am." I Am is the name God referred to Himself by when Moses asked who God was.
Those are just a few, I'm sure other Christians will post the many other reasons why the Bible says Jesus is God, and why Jesus said and thought He was God.
Atheists and others, no thumbs down on this one, please. It's all in the Bible whether you disagree with it or not.

Because if He was just a man His death could not have redeemed the entire human race.
Because Scripture clearly says so. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God - and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Because He spent His entire public life doing things only God had the power to do - including forgiving sins and accepting acts of worship.

At the first council of Nicea, it was resolved that Jesus was of the same substance as god, and not (as a faction would have it) that he was of similiar substance as god.
St. Alexander of Alexandria and Athanasius took the first position; the popular presbyter Arius, from whom the term Arian controversy comes, took the second.
The council was convened by Emperor Constantine, and thus Jesus obtained godhood by decree.

It wouldnt make sense because it would be split God into two deities. Thats why I dont agree with the Holy Trinity. I think its suppose to represent the relation of God to Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

No logical proof. You would have to step back to the 4th century and ask the church fathers that mangled any good that could have possibly happened in the world at that time.

Good question:
Logically, Jesus is not God because in John 14:28 he clearly stated "the Father is greater than I am."
EDIT: Oh please, with the thumbs down. Jesus came to earth and died. How could anybody kill GOD? Habakkuk 1:12 says God cannot die! You guys are soooo blind.
EDIT 2: A husband and wife are one also. Does that mean they're the same person??

No. It is not logical, and it cannot be proved. The divinity of Jesus was decided on at the Council of Nicea in 325 C. E.
