For those of you who do not embrace organized religion, what book gives you hope, inspires you, sums up your views on life, draws you in again and again?

Mine is Contact by Carl Sagan, because of his ability to express the importance of wonder and awe in all its forms.

My "bible" is the five-part trilogy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

There isn't a "holy" text in Asatru. What gives me hope..... Watership Down. Kinda goofy but I love the story of the rabbits trying to find a new home and having to fight for it.

I do like the common sense stuff in the Eddas - especially the Havamal. "A fool opens his mouth and reveals himself, a wise man keeps silent when among strangers."

Carl Sagan might be a good writer , but I bet he lacks in the hanging stars department.. :) no pun intended...
