During the month the Jews have their holiday of Hanukkah, the pagans celebrate the following holidays: Yule (12 days and nights), Saturnalia, the birth of Mithra (Dec 25) and the Solstice (Dec 22).

The solstice is when the sun begins to last longer each day and was celebrated by many, many pagan religions as the hope for the rebirth in spring.

Orthodox Christians celebrate the Advent (?) for 14 days over the latter part of the month.

Christians celebrate the birth of Christ (not the actual date) on Dec 25th. Most of the familiar things in Christmas celebrations come from pagan origins except the manager and magi. Decorated trees and such were pagan in origin.

Peace.....Missionary Sisters will try to draw more donations (not necessarily financial) to send/give to the Poor in other countries. They will also provide what they need to celebrate a holy and very humble Christmas - the way it should be - not materialistic.
Root them IN, not OUT....."orthros"

This month is to celebrate the birth of the Lord and savior Jesus Christ. It is a month to spread peace and give gifts from the heart. The wise men brought gifts for baby Jesus, so that's why we christians and others give gifts. God is the giver of all givers, so we want to do the same for others.
