I am looking to get a small dog but I do not know what breed to get... This is what I need:

1) The breed needs to be small
2) The breed needs to be EXTREMELY FRIENDLY
3) The breed doesn't have to be walked a lot (during the day)
4) The breed is CALM and CUTE
5) The breed can have short brown hair
.......... One that looks like a Yorkie but is NOT A YORKIE

Please send all ideas to me... Every single breed that meets these specifications...

Please also indicate the breed you recommend that meets these specifications...

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

P.S. I like the idea of a dog in the toy family but the dog can be from any family.

Get a damn cat, they're easier to handle.

I hate to say this but dogs need exercise just as you do. A good walk in the evening will be good for the dog and you. If you don't feel like walking find a place you can throw a ball and play fetch with the dog, at least your arm will get a workout.
This is my personal opinion but toys are a pain. You end up with a dog that is yippee and barks at everything. I think you would be better off with a litter bigger dog. Maybe a Beagle, 25 lbs., Short hair. A little lovable clown. Here is a shot of Snoopy in my bed:

If it did not seem like you are into a small dog I would suggest an American Pit Bull Terrier. They do get to 50-60 lbs but are about the most lovable dog there is.

You're probably best with a poodle, since you want brown hair. There are many terriers that would be good, but you've already shot one down. Maltese or Bichon would be good too, but only white.

Poodles get a bad rap - they're thought of as frilly sissy dogs, but are actually excellent guard dogs. Most big dogs are sociable and easy for an intruder to befriend. A poodle will bark it's head off, which is all you really want anyway. Do you really want a guard dog capable of mauling someone around your kids?

Just don't give the poodle one of those dumb hair cuts and you'll be fine.

Dear Jack-
Your demands are unrealistic. A dog will be friendly (or not) depending on genetics and its upbringing. A lot of dogs are small. All dogs need attention and exercise. Calm depends on personality, cute is in the eye of the beholder. Lots of dogs have short brown hair. Ummm, nothing looks like a Yorkie, but isn't. And, how many times will you post this?

Yep a Jack Russel they are solid little dogs with the heart of a big dog. Or a Miniature Bull Terrier they come in quite a small size now a days. The Jacks are extremely smart high energy dogs with the heart of a loin & brain of monkey I swear, lol. The min Bullies are much like a standard Bull Terrier opinionated & stubborn but loyal as.

No idea. But keep in mind almost all small dogs are high maintenance and you cant be sure of its disposition. Your doin the right thing askin but my advice is for you to research small dogs thru the web. Id hate so see you get a spastic ankle biter or one that needs 24/7 attention.

English Bulldog. They are calm, good with kids, and not too energetic. The are great house dogs and don't need alot of walking. They have short hair, don't shed much and don't have to be groomed.
