Of course not. Nor would he need the existence of humans at all. Or angels. Or Satan. Or even a material universe. A perfect deity would already know all that is ever going to happen. So what's the point of going through all the motions of creating a universe subject to linear time and populating it with flawed beings who are generously allowed "free will"?
No part of the Bible story makes any sense at all.
A higher form of consciousness? Sure. The "perfect" god of the Bible? Nonsense.

A perfect Being would be in a perfect state of harmony and peace with no need for outside adoration much less ego stroking. Ego is also a human trait, which at times can be considered a flaw.

These are precisely the reasons that led early Christian Gnostics to claim that God of the Old Testament is evil. They believed that there's a higher power in the Universe that can be gleaned through special training and that Jesus was such a teacher.

I believe that Cross proves beyond any shadow of doubt, that God did not create nor sustain the existence of man,for the purpose of stroking His ego.

Amen to that!
If the whole purpose of the Golden Rule preached by Jesus was to treat others as I would like to be treated, I can follow his philosophy without believing in god. What type of god would want my pledge of fealty simply for the sake of believing or proving my allegiance? I would expect god is beyond pride and the need for some following.

I've had this same question myself.
I have to come to the conclusion that a deity, if it exists, must either not desire worship, or it is not actually a benevolent deity.
In any sense, worship is out the window, as I don't want to be worshiping a good deity that doesn't desire worship, nor do I want to be worshiping a tyrant.

GOD doesn't need HIS ego stroked! but mankind seems to forget who it was that gave them breath, a garden filled with fresh eats, and soft Sunlight with intermitent rain. However HE did set some standards to live by that would keep mankind Thriving instead of just bearly existing ...like today, huh! Hmm...Guess who needs a reminder?!

There is a difference between ego stoking and love relationship; with humans God wants the latter. Do you know the ultimate reason He created mankind? Find out, I mean make it your goal to really find out and it will surprise you.
