only if you are Guard or Reserves. NOT if you went Active Duty. and employers with less than 50 employees are exempt.
it should be noted that they do not, technically, have to hold the EXACT same job, only one with similar pay and responsibilities.

They have to hold your job during all training and deployments. It is the law. Visit the Employer Support to the Guard and Reserve website and check out the rules and resources. If your employer even hints that they would let you go, you call ESGR and ask for help. Good luck!

Employers over a certain size (I think it is 50 employees) can not replace you for leaving for time where you are called into active duty. However, if you leave a job to enlist in the armed forces, the employer can replace you.

If you have a civilian job and you quit that job to go onto active duty, your civilian employer must give you the job back when you return from active duty.
If you are going into the Reserves and you did not resign the job, the job should be there when you finish basic and each time you do Reserve time, even if on extended active duty.
Your recruiter should have explained all this to you. If he did not, ask him for a brochure on the subject. He has them available they will tell you all about it.

Only if you are a reservist or a guard member. If you are entering full time active duty, then you are entering a new job and can not have your old job back.
