I don't neccesarily agree with all the tenants of Catholicism, or Christianity, but I do believe in God. . . and I feel drawn towards a life of prayer, contemplation, study, reading, and service. . does anyone know such things?? Thanks

Why should one be a nun - an object of sexual pleasure for the Fathers and the Brothers in the Church!

Peace.....there are anglican nuns as well as catholic nuns. One does not have to live in a monastery to be a nun although the correct term for one living in a convent (not a monastery) and being an active nun - is really "sister".....an active sister usually does pastoral work, teaches, missionary, nursing.....she also has a defined prayer life with her community.....whereas a nun in a monastery has a more rigid prayer life and lives in more silence and contemplation....there are chores to be done in both monastic and active orders/communities.....there are also lay communities where commitments can be made through vows and promises as well as living on one's own in the secular world.....these are called "Third Orders" (Tertiaries) - look up Carmelites and Franciscans. Blessings, "orthros"

hello
yes you can do anything you feel comfortable with spiritually or else wise in this Free America ...nuns are as it were in the highest seance a person holding to the truth of God as their true connection , and only real source of light and love in the world.and the need to draw close is in them ..it is a very noble path in what ever way exercised by you in your free will
..as a free standing person walking a path of deep commitment alone ..it is difficult to stay the course ..and often in the past there have been small communities of such..shaker's or other..i have often wanted to start a nunnery..because i love the fact of the hearts desire to be close to god..but i am not a monk and i find the trait very attractive which would great a conflict as a keeper of a nunnery,so i live a life alone as a monk..almost

Yes.
In addition to Catholic nuns, there are nuns in the following religions:
- Eastern Orthodox
- Anglican
- Lutheran
- Calvinist
- Buddhist
In Catholicism, the term nun is usually reserved for those women who live separated from the world in a cloister. Those who live in the world are usually called religious sisters or just sisters.

No being Catholic is a prerequisite for being a Catholic nun. However there are some forms of laywomen who come pretty darn close though.
I don't know of too many Catholics who agree with everything the church states. So, yeah there's a bit of room for disagreement.

As a young girl , I felt God Leading me to work for him, giving my life completely surrendering myself completely to his will for my life.. I knew I was going to a missionary, I served in Old Mexico as my training and on to work with the Sioux Indian Children.
There is A Wonderful Bible School in Westfield Indiana, Union Bible Seminary also God's Bible School in Cincinnatti, Ohio
In some ways giving your life to service for God is being a nun, wouldn't one think .. I Really wish you the Best..

You can do all of that without being a "nun". If you are not drawn to Christianity, are you drawn to any religion. God is there to listen, but are you going to accept all of him? That includes Jesus.

You can obey God and not be a CATHOLIC.
(PSALM 68:11) Jehovah himself gives the saying; The women telling the good news are a large army.
Do Catholic nuns do this.
The evidence says otherwise.
They hide themselves away in monasteries.
going against what it says in Psalms.
J.W. sisters are OUT THERE 24/7. At your front door.

Buddhists have nuns. But they're more like women monks than Catholic nuns. I'm sure you'll find your place.

I believe you'll find the Baptist and Anglican churches both have Nuns, although you'd have to check into that.
