The drinking age should be lowered to 18. At 18 one is held legally accountable. They are also allowed to vote and to serve in the armed forces. Drinking is also a lifestyle choice. Also, alcohol is easily obtainable at any age.

No, the drinking age should not be lowered to 18.
My reason is that lowering the drinking age to 18 would increase the number of drunk teenage drivers. There are already enough on the road--we don't need more.
My 2nd reason is that many 18 year olds are still in high school. This means that high school seniors could easily provide alcohol for minors. It's impossible to stop teenagers from getting access to beer, but let's not make it easier.
I know drinking is a lifestyle choice. In Texas, there are laws where minors are allowed to legally consume alcohol in the prescence of their parent.

Man I love my Country it has been 18 all along except for BC which is 19. If you haven't guessed I'm in Canada. Really I think they should if you can vote and you can drive and you can join the military then why not make it so you can have a beer when your 18yrs old. Really around the world 18 is the age categorized as an adult. So if you are an adult why can't you buy alcohol really US has always been screwed up with this.

It's 18 here in New Zealand. Attitudes to alcohol are what count. Binge drinking is a western world phenomena and has been in Russia for years. Drinking just to get drunk is stupid and if that's having fun you're missing most of the fun.

well in my mind the drinking age should be lowered... I'm 20 and i usually party every weekend.. the legal age limit just makes it a little harder for people to get beer.. i see plenty of people that drive drunk and are under 21 that doesn't matter.. its all about having a fun time.. lol if you start going to the bar at a younger age you will prolly get tired of it sooner also..

I think it should, but the behavior might go haywire.
If we're allowed to die for our country, smoke cigarettes which already harm americans, and go to jail.
they should lower drinking age, but they wont. because they blame the thousands of drunks driving each year and forget the millions that are good.

Well, they tried that. The reason why it was eventually moved up to 21 was because they were trying to cut down on how much alcohol was showing up in high school kids.
I do not agree that it should have been moved to 21. 20 would have been adequate.

pssh it doesn't affect me and i just don't want people to show up to school drunk .. even though the drinking age/law doesn't stop them from doing it in the first place.
drinking is a person's choice not the governments choice.
