My whole life is cluttered. I have papers, bills, old letters, stationary, post cards, unused paper, programs from events, good magazines I can't part with, so much paper, I even keep name place cards from important events. Of course I don't keep scrap books just loads of laundry baskets to keep everything in. Now my house is full of laundry baskets. I am so tired of going through one by one and I don't know what to keep and what to discard. I mean I can't turn into a museum and my house isnt big enough. What do I do? Any advice? I can not afford an expert either to come in and do it for me.

Sounds like you need a professional but not the type you are thinking of. Perhaps a good person to have a long conversation with over why you feel such a compulsion to keep things that should not hold such extreme meaning to you. Hopefully your medical coverage covers psychologists.
I really do not mean to make this sound like an insult but i am not very good at sugar coating things. Its one thing to be a pack rat and have more junk then whats needed its something different when you use words like museum and describe the house as so cluttered as to be running out of room.
You will also need to develope a plan that works for you to get rid of what is not needed and to organize what you do keep. It should be done in phases and not in a rushed fasion. First go through and simply decide on what to keep and what to get rid of. Then get some scrap books 3 ring binders or whatever suits your fancy maybe even a combination of things to organize your treasures. But you really do have to get a grip on these things and not let them rule your current life.
O Also do realize that much paper stuff cluttered everywhere in the house is a HUGE fire hazard. What is more important?

Burn it all. Well except for your bills and important documents. Please for your sake do not become a pack rat, it will be very annoying to yourself in the future when it comes to that day when you want to start cleaning the house. If you have a computer, which I would presume you do, goto some internet cafe or the library and scan all of your documents and store them somewhere safe on a secured hard drive, that will settle all of your problems, that way you don't ever have to look for a certain document that could take days to look for. I did that, I will tell you it helps alot from personal experience, I have documents and such dating back to the 90s, stored on a secured drive for access only at home.

First things first this question should not be posted in the military section!

Organize your paper by newpaper, magazines, postcards, bills ect. Try a file cabinet!

why is this in the military section?

My 1st suggestion is to start small. In one section of your house. Don't get overwhelmed with the whole of it. Start on one section one day finish with that part , then another and so on and so on. Good luck!

Ask yourself, what is the worst that could happen if I got rid of all these papers? Then decide what to do.

Take it all outside, make a big pile, and set it on fire.
