OK...It seems like a lot of German words sound SO harsh. In French you have words like l'amour and chouette. In German, it seems like each word ends with "ach". Can the German language be made to sound more romantic when guys are trying to woo women, or vice versa??

Well, if I would invite you, you could come, and see for yourself. On the other hand you would disturb, and it would be a pity about the chance...
By the way, it's important what you make others think and feel, not what you tell them - you get that fine difference? After all, everyone must seduce himself/herself. We only get an impulse from outside. Sometimes a flute can sound harsh and aggressive, sometimes a cello can move your soul much more. It's always depending on the whole of impressions, and on your very own thoughts. (Here we are again.)

German isn't harsh; you probably just watch too many WW2 movies with people shouting in German and so on. Plus, different parts of Germany have very different dialects.
Yes, it can sound sweet and romantic.

Yes, it is possible to "sweet talk" in German; my husband does it all the time. It is a harsh lanuage so I just answer him in spanish.

haha. i guess it probably sounds sweet to them.

p.s.- if you ever go to France, don't go around saying chouette. it's not bad, but people will laugh at you. I learned that the hard way- apparently nobody really says it except little kids.

It may seem harsh to someone foreign to the language, but not to the recipient ;o)

I don't know if this sounds harsh to non-native speakers, it sure sounds very "sweet" to me. ;)
