I'll start:

2. They're great family dogs and great with kids.
3. They tend to be energetic, so training them in dog sports is always a good idea.
4. They shed. A LOT.
5. They tend to bark a lot.

Good question!
-Labrador Retrievers-
1) They're big chewers as puppies, have rawhides or sturdy toys on hand.
2) They will do ANYTHING to get to play in water, even trying to swim in their water bowl, it doesn't end up pretty. =) I suggest a kiddie pool filled with a couple inches of water.
3) These dogs shed, a lot, so get a good quality food and brush.
4) Theyre super loving, make sure your ready for plenty of slobbery kisses!
5) They have lots of energy, so take them on daily walks/jogs/runs, and/or lots of playtime in the backyard!

Great Dane
1. They get BIG. Usually over 30 inches and weigh anywhere from 110lbs. - 200 lbs. Therefore, they need training or can be hard to control when full grown.

2. They can and will eat your dinner off the counter top if your not looking.

3. They have been known to have a shorter life span averaging about 8 yrs, but with the introduction of the European lines this has been expanding. With some lines living up to 14 yrs.

4. They are extremely loving, and natural people pleasers (Gentle Giants), and think they are a lap dog.

5. Don't feed them puppy food and high protein diets when growing, and don't excercise them a lot before a year old as this will hurt their joints.

Standard Poodles:
1. while incredably smart these dogs stay puppies for TWO YEARS!!!!! That's right, they will have all their annoying yet cute puppiness untill they are two years old.
2. They are people dogs and are not very independant
3. The grooming requirements are OUTRAGOUS and unless you learn to do it yourself (like I did, you kind of have to) plan on spending around $150 a month.
4. While they are the biggest of the poodles, they still prance and would prefer to spend their life on their back legs unless trained properly. They are incredable jumpers.
5. These dogs are incredably smart. Even if that means out-smarting you. Keep them in their place and don't let them think they are in charge because they will take it and run.

I also have goldens and labs but I'm sure someone else will put up some key things to remember

Belgians (there are some differences between the four but for this I'll put them together).

1) When we say constantly in motion unless commanded otherwise, we mean it!!!

2) They need the companionship of humans and can't be thrown in the backyard unattended or their will develop behavior problems.

3) They worship the people they know but generally aren't crazy about strangers.

4) They are are highly protective of the homes, cars and people and if left unchecked this can be a problem.

5) They are very smart quick learners who don't do well with lots of repetition and/or harsh training methods. A common joke among Belgian owners is that it is important that the owner is smarter than the dog.

Bull Terrier:
1.Very Stubburn
2.Wonderful with families and children.
3.Calvalier Gladiators... they don't start fights but they seem to attract trouble. Other dogs don't understand them a lot of times and tend to attack them.
4.Will get away with anything that you let them. Not a dog for people that don't want to take the time to make a dog mind!
5. They have big hard heads that they are convinced can push through anything and they tend to use their heads and big noses like batter rams to move things out of their way!
Could list more but you said 5. :)

Bichon Frise

1) They're quite sensitive and should be treated gently. NEVER use physical discipline with these dogs (or any dogs!) as their feelings get hurt easily.
2) They're excellent with children.
3) They don't shed but this means they need more grooming--daily brushing is essential.
4) They'll bark up a fuss if you don't train them not to!
5) They are adorable and may get overweight because you feel soo sorry for those doleful little eyes and keep giving them bits of your dinner.

American Pit Bull Terrier
1. They are extremely affectionate to humans, despite what most people think.
2. They are high energy dogs, they NEED exercise.
3. They need to be socialized with other animals from an early age, and they should also be socialized with all different kinds of people from an early age, and it should continue throughout their life.
4. Even with socialization, care should always be taken around other dogs. Never leave your Pit Bull unsupervised around other dogs.
5. Work on obedience training to ensure you have a well behaved dog. Then you can show off your affectionate well behaved dog to the public, so they know what a real American Pit Bull Terrier is.
