Blood pressure is NOT completely controllable in some people, my father was on 26 pills a day, he died aged 48yrs, all the men on my dads side died before 60yrs, I have high blood pressure peaked at 220, I have had three strokes and all medication has failed so far.
I am fit, slim and active healthy person and always have been, I don't smoke, I have never eaten fatty foods or salt so it really annoys me when I hear some people say " High blood pressure is completely controllable" RUBBISH.
Stress is the enemy so if I won the lotto maybe I would live a bit longer but in reality its a matter of limited exercise so as not to kill myself and try to get a good nights sleep.

How long yhou live will depend upon several factors; heredity, your personal health and how serious you are about proper health care.

If you eat properly, take your blood pressure medication, exercise, learn stress management techniques, Quit smoking and maintain a healthy weight you should have a long healthy life.

I personally know several people who have lost weight while following the guidelines above. As a result of their healthy lifestyle, their blood pressure returned to normal and the doctor was able to take them off medication.

I also know people who followed these guidelines, lost weight and still had to stay on medication.Just remember to take your blood pressure medication EVERY day.

Having high blood pressue increases your risk for stroke. Follow the link below to the American Heart Assocation website for information about high blood pressure.

Exactly, get on meds to control it and watch what you eat and exercise and you should be fine. You'll need monitoring by a doctor periodically for the rest of your life, but you should live a normal life as long as you follow what your doctor recommends and are smart about how you treat your body. Good luck.

If you fail to get it down with meds, exercise, etc., then you are putting a continuous strain on the heart and blood vessels (basically you are doing what happens to a garden hose filled with water and sealed then left in the sun - the pressure keeps working a stain that is never relaxed.

There is no cure but there is treatment other than medications that have an ever-growing list of side effects. Chiropractic is wonderful at helping the body function better and I have seen it help 10s of people with high blood pressure problems.
