20-20 means that you can see at 20 feet what average people see at 20 feet.
20-15 means your eyes can see at 20 feet what average people must move up to 15 feet to see.
uncorrected my eyes are 20-200, which means that what I see at 20 feet, other people can make out at 200 feet. If it were corrected to 20-20 with glasses, I would be classified as legally blind. In testing, I can not reliably make out the big letter at the top of the chart as to whether the E faces right or left.
EDIT
49-17 given in one answer is the width of the eye opening and height to the center of the pupil and has nothing to do vision. Mine say 54 20

It is a proportion (I believe). Think of a math test, if you score 20/15 on it you got 5 extra credit points but if you get 20/20 that is just and normal A...

20-20 is like what details most people see from 20 feet. if you have 20-20 you see the same details as the average person. a lot of plane pilots have 20-25 so what most people see from 20 feet away they can see from 25 feet away. for you, what most people see at 20 feet away you see at 15 feet away. I have 20-21 :]

thats not true....20-20 is supposed to be the best...isn't it? i have no idea then...
well i kno that 100-100 is supposed to be really good O.O but no one has it
so that means you have a 20 in one eye, and 15 in the other, meaning the eye u got a 20 in is better

i can tell you wat 20/100 means.. you will understand. that means someone with that vision would have to move 20 ft up to see the same way someone with 20/20 vision could see 100ft away. so you would go 15ft away when someone with 20/20 vision would be 20ft away and ya'll would see the same. you are lucky
