if you go to www.hrblock.com and use their tax estimator it will help you see if you will be due a refund or owe any taxes.

It depends on how much you'll make total for the year - most likely will be at least a few hundred dollars unless you are a dependent, then might not be anything.

Post again with your income for the year, your age, whether you live with your parents, and whether you were a student in 2007, and somebody can give you a better answer.

Edit: OK, if you're 18 and live with your parents, you can only claim yourself if you provided over half of your own support, which you probably did NOT. Even if they didn't claim you, since they COULD you can't claim yourself. But it won't matter anyway - since your total income for the year is under $5350, you won't owe any income tax and will get the whole amount back that was withheld for federal income tax. You'll have to file a return to get it, but you can file form 1040EZ - you should be able to do that yourself rather than paying somebody to do it for you. But you'll only get back what was withheld for federal income tax and possibly for state income tax - you won't get back the amount that was for social security and medicare.

It depends on if you are claiming yourself or if your parents are claiming you as a dependent still and if you are a student or not. If you are claiming yourself, you should get just about all of it back. If your parents are claiming you, you may get only a couple hundred back. There are a lot of factors that play in, including what income bracket you fall in ect...

If you get any back, you paid to much.

Of course all this will be moot when the FairTax Act H.R. 25 passes and replaces all income taxes with a single sales tax on new items. The FairTax now has the support of hundreds of thousands, 72 congressional sponsors / co-sponsors, and 7 presidential candidates. See www.fairtax.org
