I changed the filter and it didnt help. It seems like it isnt making as much ice. When the ice starts to melt in my glass it makes what ever im drinking taste worse.

Its not old ice. I dump it out about every day to get ice in my cooler. I have a filter that it goes thru and it is new. The tube that the water goes through is fairly new. Only about a year and a half.

Ice absorbs smells (hence, taste) even from things in the other part of the fridge. Onions are a big culprit as well as garlic, etc.
Here in Florida the water is so bad that even filtered water has an unnatural taste, add food smell infused through the freezer and its no wonder bagged ice from the store is so popular.
Another trick we use is using the gallon water picked up at the store and using it for ice providing the ice is being used within a day or two.
Good Luck.

Icky water going into the icemaker, or the ice is too old, and should be dumped out, and make new. Icky tubing into the unit, such as mold or ? from not being used often. Could be a lot of things actually....Start with dumping it out, and letting it make new, and taste that. If it is better and ok...that might be what the problem was. Just old.

It may be something in the freezer or refridgerator that is making it taste bad. I have put leftover food in the fridge before (especially if it's still warm) and you can smell it when you open the freezer.
