Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
The answer is in the last statement "...and man became a living soul."
dust + breath of life = living soul (KJV)
GOD bless

I didn't know he quoted it or what it would be in... but the Bible itself says at Genesis 2:7 "And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul."
He came to BE a living soul- not HAVE a living soul.
Not sure this could help. Sorry, if not.

If the soul isn't something that is separate from the body and can exist without the body then Christian theology falls apart. But it's all just nonsense anyway. We are beings of Body and Mind there is no soul at all, and when you die you're just dead. There is no afterlife.

That is found in CS Lewis' book "Mere Christianity". (Unfortunately I do not have a copy handy to be able to give you chapter and page)
