I could NEVER be a Christian, even if the Biblical God existed. There's just NO way my conscience would EVER let me praise or admire ANYONE who drowned, plagued, and slaughtered millions (more than Hitler), conspired to have his own kid beaten and executed, and repeatedly commanded his followers to kidnap, rape, torture, and kill people. My moral standards are way too high to condone or promote any of that.

I understand you totally.
I was also brought up in Christianity, however, in recent years, my faith has also faced stumbling blocks. I wonder is it because, I grew up in a christian home - I didn't really have to choose which religion to believe in, unlike my friends. Some of my friends had to go through quite alot before they are where they are today. Some of them personally experience God. That's why God is real for them. My encounters with God are mild and slow - not strong enough to make an impact. And my family did not fully supported me in certain decision making which I felt drew me further away.
There are some people who seriously cannot be christians - it is written in the bible. We once had a bible study discussion and this parable taught by Jesus said something about - there are people who will never enter the Kingdom of God, they will forever be condemned. And I remembered my close friend telling me, "what if I was never meant for His Kingdom? I live so long, and finally when the day comes, God tells me I am not accepted in?"
It is indeed a horrifying thought but I believe God loves us very much and He will not do this to us. If we become Christians, means that God did not reject us. Otherwise, why would He have saved us?

Doubt is not a terminal illness, unless you don't get delivered of it.
Thanks be to our heavenly Father, there is deliverance.
Deliverance comes from repenting of everything that stands in the way of faith. Psalm 1:1 does very well in helping us to see the importance of the associations we keep, then there is Hebrews 12:1 which talks about weights upon us and what besets us, and then 1 Peter 1:15 defines the state in which we can find complete deliverance of all doubt and have the confidence we need.
Doubt has its root in sin and repenting of sin delivers us from doubt.

I was brought in Christianity, but now that I've grown up I know I can't be a Christian. To me, Christian beliefs aren't just unbelievable, they're laughable. I really can't understand how any reasonably intelligent adult can really believe that stuff.
What should you do?
How should I know? My only advice to search for the answers you seek and decide what set of beliefs is right for you.

I don't know if this is your path or not but I can relate that this was my experience. I never believed but desperately wanted to - from childhood until my early 20s when I stopped trying.
I found a different path and have been happy ever since.
Good luck in your search.

You should read about the lives of Saints. Just about all of them had times where they were doubtful, or felt distant from God. St. Faustina called it "the dark night in the soul." It's a normal part of Faith, and getting through it makes you a better Christian. It will pass. As Father Bill says, "fake it til you make it." Pray, go to Church, read the Bible, do whatever worked for you before until you reach the end of the tunnel.

don't worry, there's actually quite alot of people that are going through or have gone through the same thing (including me). perhaps you should just take a look at other religions, and if none of them seem to fit, then call yourself either an agnostic (person who is unsure about god/religion) or an atheist (person who doesn't believe in god at all).
and please don't let those christians get to you if they start to say something about it. remember it's better to have an open mind and question then to follow blindly.
i hope this helped.

Well I have a similar attitude and I quit doing the religion thing as soon as I was old enough to be on my own and make my own decisions. Things were said in church when I was eight or nine that began to make me think it was all bogus. That was fifty years ago.

someone told me that they know a women who was born in a unchristian family and demons wont let her go because she under devils spirit even if she gets saved they still don't leave her..... but you were born in a Christian family so you probably dont have that problem. i use to have doubts until i went through a really hard time and god was the only one there for me. devil still trys to pull me down but my heart and life is covered in gods blood so god will always keep me strong..... if you are having doubts ask god to cover your heart with his blood so you will be completely his and if you haven't given your life to him yet you should..... if your still struggling go to some church with a good youth or prayer group. go there a few times and see if anything changes...... good luck.... remember even if you are having doubts god will never leave you!!!! he'll always be there!!

you have a war going on within you..
the will of your body is waging war against the will of your spirit...
if i could not swim and i fell in a raging river, if there are no one there to help me out, i would drowned, weather you believe it or not would not change the out come...
that's how it is with us, our will is to satisfy our own wants and needs which will bring swift destruction upon us. [ wondering through life aimlessly, without any sense of direction].....
until we activate Gods spirit, that is in us, we are liken unto those that are dead. [spiritual dead]...
when you were a small child and your dad ask you to jump in his arms, did you not jump, without a second thought. why, because you trusted him to catch you. with that same [child like] faith, believe in God and His salvation through Christ to catch you and save you from drowning in the rivers of your life...[trouble times]...it's normal to feel as if all is in vein, but ask God to reveal unto you His truth, and give you His wisdom to live your life in His righteousness....
" like a tree planted by the water, i shall not be moved".....
may the grace and love of God reassure you that all will be well with those that seek Jesus.....
Merry Christmas.........
