I can tell you after studying earnestly since 1981 that i am on a 'step' to a higher understanding of God and it in no ways has anything to do with religion of any sort. God is real, this multiverse is simply too big and is made of order not chaos to have simply happened. If you can move past religions which are culturally, ethnically and geographically divisive i believe you then begin the true understanding of who and what God is. But you will have to leave mans religion completely out of it. Forget all that muslim, jew, catholic, protestant stuff. Look at the scriptural writings of different cultures with an open mind, sift what rings true in your heart from what sounds wrong. Study early paintings of lets say 'christianity' just for example there is more than meets the eye initially. If you have any desire for truth what you begin to find out should leave your mouth hanging open more than once. While you're saying "no way..." under your breath. Its an amazing journey i strongly recommend it.

I don't believe in any God that has ever been written about in a book or anything but I don't completely cast out the fact that there could be/have been some sort of higher being that created our universe and whatnot. I also don't cast out the fact that even though we human beings have the most advanced minds of any living thing we know of, that still doesn't mean that our minds have the power to ever figure out or even fathom how everything was created. I don't know why people think humans are so special.

Matter and energy can not be created nor destroyed.

No creator required.

It's an immature mind that can't grasp this fundamental truth (The First Law of Thermodynamics).

God is the last, great Santa Claus. All the other fairy-tale creatures our parents made-up fell away as we matured. For some reason, not even parents have the courage to let go of this last Judaic fairy-tale patriarch.

Do you really think something like this (complete with lack of proper punctuation) would change the mind of an atheist? You haven't been here long, have you?

Personally - I'm going to assume you meant the Christian concept of a deity. If so, then my answer would be "No."

Been there, tried it. Couldn't reconcile myself to a book filled with violence, incest, slavery, massacres, and eternal damnation. The contradictions and lack of logic just didn't make sense when one is told that it's the "infallible word of God."

I don't believe in God
I've thought about it long and hard for a long time
To me, no evidence equals no reason to believe
My parents made me
I don't really care or have any way of knowing how everything started.
I care about how things are now and will be in the future.
"God did it" is not a satisfactory explanation

No i dont believe in God. I believe that people need to believe that there is a God so as to not go insane. God was created by the people for the people.

I also believe in God but come on. Atheists DO NOT! They do not see things the way you and I do. That is what an atheist is. What results do you expect to get from questions like this?

Why?

The old stupid and the chicken question.

What if I were to tell you I created God? Can you prove I didn't?

For God's sake Jesus M. Biblical quotes are quite meaningless when speaking to people who don't believe. Come on.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Joh 1:16 And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
