I thnk that I am aware of the answer and just want to hear others take on it.

Good question. At first, I was thinking Adam because of his excuse that the woman whom God had given him made him eat the fruit. But, to think about it more, I would say that the serpent. He gave excuses (lies) to Eve to entice her to eat the fruit.
