I'm on 200mg of seroquel. It can take up to a few weeks before it kicks in to your system. It may take a while before the doctor finds a good combination for you. It took us 2 years to find the right meds for me. Good luck to you. Depression runs in my family too.

Well don't expect it to work right away, and don't expect it to be the magic pill the first time you take it. This is coming from a depressed veteran, Been depressed chronically for over 3 years now and been on three different anti-D's, that didn't work or didn't work well - it may take 2 -3 weeks to feel any effect, last week though they put me on 75mg of Effexor (Venlafaxine) and its helping tremendously for my social anxiety and depression. I didn't leave my house for 3 weeks and now I'm back at college monday morning.

I take 100mg of Zoloft daily for my depression/social anxiety, and it does help a lot. You have to give the medicine time to kick in though, it will seem like it gets worse before it gets better, but in about 2-3 weeks you should feel a difference.

Cymbalta 60mg daily helps me greatly. And yes, you're correct depression has a genetic predisposition. But, just knowing what helps others isn't your answer. You have to find what works for you.

I am on 20 miligrams of Lexapro.
It is shocking how your mind reacts to these things!
I feel like I go one day and my mood is switched, the first day I started I could already feel the slightest difference.
