Of course it's bad, cats have different requirements than dogs.. Dog food is for dogs, cat food is for cats.

Long term, cat food is deadly for dogs.
Don't worry if your yorkie has stolen a few pieces here and there though. Although it might give him diarrhea, there shouldnt be anything to worry about.
The hard part about dogs finding cat food is that they love it and sometimes won't eat their own dog food. It's a habit better left unfounded.

If your Yorkie sneaks a bite every now and then, that's OK (although you should try and prevent him from doing so).
Now, if your Yorkie is on a main diet of cat food, then it can be harmful. Dogs & cats have a rather different dietary requirements.

Our dog and cats eats the same food - raw meat, edible bones and offal. All are in perfect health with glossy coats and sparkly teeth and even my 15 year cat has every tooth in her head.
Commercial cat food is probably even more inappropriate for cats than it is for dogs. Why do manufacturers include grains and vegetables in food for an obligate carnivore like a cat? Yes, dogs are carnivores too but they can survive ( but not thrive) for a time without meat - cat's can't.

Don't allow them to eat any cat food it isn't good for them.
Put the food in a spot where the dog can't get it.
A few bites of cat food is a lot for small dog, they should NOT be eating any cat food at all!!! It will give them diarrhea!!

Our 1 yo Aussie Cattledog has been occasionally into the cat food since he was 8 weeks old.
It doesn't seem to have done him any harm but OMG those cat food farts...
As long as it's just an occasional thing and that is not all he is eating he should be fine. If it's a real problem put the kitty bowls up out of reach. The cats will figure it out.

It would take A LOT of cat food over a long period of time to harm your pooch and then it may only may him a little chubby - unless he has a kidney problem.
The main differences between cat and dog are protein and fat levels. Cats are less able to be omnivorous and cannot have lower protein levels in their diet. Dogs, unless as I said they have a problem, can tolerate higher protein levels than are usually found in commercial dog foods. If they couldn't tolerate protein, they wouldn't be able to eat meat.
In short, your boy will be fine and your cat will be irritated. Your dog is not facing imminent danger.

It's bad for any dog to eat cat food (you know it's terrier, right?).
A couple of times, probably not. But you don't want them to make a habit of it.

It will probably make them sick, not the right nutrition for a dog.
Just as a cat shouldn't eat dog food.
I would have your dog eat dog food from now on.

It wont harm them... But the dog may not want to go back to eating dog food. Because cat food I am told is sweeter.
