Here's the info:
Male
They had their first set of shots, up to date on deworming and first generation cockapoos.
Do you think $400 is a reasonable price? They're red in color, if that makes a difference.

In all truth, I wouldn't pay that much for a mixed breed. Doesn't make sense to me.

Other than that, I guess $400 isn't too bad, since they're vaccinated & dewormed.

Is the health of the puppies guaranteed? What are the temperaments of the parents? Keep in mind to ask these questions, meet the puppies & parents.

Well I think $400 is a little high. I would think about $150 for a mixed breed, or designer dog is about right. They are cute, they can be handful and becuase they are a mixed breed, they can end up with traits that are not noticed in the parents. They can end up larger than expected because they are a mixed breed. Red is a nice color but it doesn't justify the price tag. For that color no more than 250 since it is rare. The higher price ranges listed are for those from pet stores. I can assure you that the pet store only pays a fraction of that selling price. No matter what the store says, if they are selling dogs in there, they do not have the best interest of those animals in mind. Whoever has the money has the dog; doesn't matter whether or not they can take care of it or if they will take care of it. A lot of times they come from puppy mills where the mothers are breed each and every time they come in season. The moms die in about 5 years from overuse of being bred; most puppies starting dying by the time of the 4 litter becaus the mother can't support them because she is drained.

If you are buying from a private breeder, ask to see pics of previous litters. Pictures of the mom and dad. If they are unwilling to show the mom or dad for whatever reason, then they are hiding something. It is one of those buyer beware things .....

One other thing, were the shots done at home or the vet? If done at home, they may not have been done correctly. If done at the vet, then at least they did receive a DOCUMENTED vet record and health check.

People are giving a thumbs down because its a ****GASP*** poodle hybrid.
It really depends on a TON of other things other than it just being a cockapoo and having had shots.
It depends on the backround of the mom and the dad (pedigree? champions? working backround? health testing passed?) and if the point of breeding was met properly (e.i. f you bred them because you were looking for therapy potential dogs or just because you wanted to see what happened, obviously the first would be worth more.
From what I can tell, this is a home breeding first time thing and more than likely a decent price for the pups would be $300 given you have teken proper care for them. Maybe start at $400 when they are 8 weeks old and drop it to $300 after 10 weeks.
Go do some more research on what all should be included in the price of the pups so you can calculate a better number, not just because thats what every other breeder prices them.

Again, I may point out that the thimbs down I will be recieving is strictly because I didn't tell you you were aweful for breeding a ***gasp*** poodle hybrid.
Good luck!

There is no such breed as a cockapoo...it is only a cross between a cocker and a poodle, $400 is outlandish for a mixed breed puppy from a BYB. Before you say it isn't a backyard breeder ask the following questions. Do the parents have titles? Do the parents have a minimum of passing OFA hip and elbows clearance and current CERF eye exams. Is the litter registered with a recognized kennel club? I can promise you the answer to all of these are NO.....that's because reputable breeders don't breed crosses.

If you want a mixed breed dog go to the pound or some all breed rescue group. Do not encourage backyard breeders to keep breeding by giving them money.

Too much for a mixed breed. Go to a shelter and find one. for a 1/4 of the price, INCLUDING neuter/spay all shots, worming, etc.

Really, a Cockapoo is a mixed breed dog. Me, personally, I wouldn't pay any more than $50-$100 for one.

You could check your local shelter - I'm sure they have several to choose from for a lot less.

$400 for a mutt?

Sorry, I'd say, go to your local animal shelter, pay a $150 adoption fee and save a dog's life instead.

No. Consider how much the adoption fee is at shelter to adopt a mixed breed.
