If I'm understanding 777 correctly, in that you find it upsetting that Christians would lash out with harsh and unkind words toward atheists, I commend you. It is Christians like you that I am particularly fond of. You did not come here to say, "They need Jesus, Lord help them," which was respectful of you. I am agnostic and I would not in any way be rude and direspectful to anybody for their religious beliefs and affiliations. I turn away from Christians, atheists, agnostics, you name it, who lack respect to other people and throw harsh words at each other.
In response to the question: I do not see an apology coming to the atheists, in all honesty. Atheists, in my opinion, have a stereotypical view slapped on them and are seen in the wrong light at times. I find it hypocritical for self-acclaimed Christians to be so rude to other people when, if I understand correctly, they are supposed to love all God's people. On the other side, though, I believe there is a part in the bible that discusses smiting the enemy, as in the non-believers. I do not take this literally though and think it simply means for Christians to spread God's word. If you're going to do that though, do it in a manner that is not insulting to somebody else's beliefs.

We don't NEED to. But I find that if I'm nice to people and apologize for things; I'll be hated a lot less. Everyone apologizes as a form of self preservation, whether it's not going to hell and being liked, or just being liked.

Forgive me, but there is no good in an effort to be angry, either from a atheist or a Christian over someones or so manys death. I believe that it was reported that "Earlier in the day, a law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity said it appeared that Murray "hated Christians."
This doesn't mean he was an atheist, but the word hate meant he was disturbed. Be he a Christian or an atheist.
Edit: very well said Amandizz

Then the people who posted such things were obviously ignorant and didn't even bother to read the story. The story says that the shooter was home-schooled in a very strict christian family. How does "atheist" come out of that?? I would say he was probably just the opposite, thinking he was doing God's work to rid the world of whatever didn't fit in the box his parents raised him in.
This is the perfect example of the type of violence and psychotic behavior that comes from cult-like raising and teaching by so-called "Christians". I know a few Christians who home-school their children so that they won't be exposed to all the "evil in the world". I think this is creepy, to be quite frank about it, and these people are basically brainwashing their children and turning their family into a cult by not letting these kids experience the world and think for themselves. These kids have absolutely no clue how to handle society, being rejected, any of the things that happen in day-to-day school life and in the rest of the world. It's disgusting. Parents are supposed to guide their children, love their children, and raise them to be responsible adults, not shelter them from everything so that they learn nothing. I highly doubt Jesus would approve of this behavior. Through Christ we were given free will. I am sure he expects us to give our children the same.

Christians are taught to "love thy neighbour" but apparently that simple bit of wisdom doesn't apply to the atheist neighbour. I'm generalizing of course - this does not extend to many Christians - but it certainly applies to those zealots who assume that only an atheist could commit such an act. They not only assume these vile things, but spew their hate speech for all to read.
But I digress - I've gotten a bit off topic... Will atheists get an apology? From those "Christians" who said what they did? Yeah right... that'll be the day...

People who sling "horrific insults" toward ANYONE are just lame, need to keep their mouthes shut.
This was a horrible happening. Anyone with any compassion would read/hear this story with sadness, regardless of their beliefs.
Things like this give jerks a platform for them to show their butts -- yes, lots of Christians as well.
All this ranting on Y/A about who should apologize to whom, and name-calling, and hurling impertinent insults -- should all be put to rest.
We should all be in mind of the families; have sympathy and love; pray for them, or in whatever case, have a good thought for them. Their lives are torn wretchedly apart.
We could ALL come together on this one; we all are bigger than this, I know we are.

People always jump to conclusions with out knowing even half of the story.
Will they get an apology???? Probably not! but neither did the Jews from the Holocaust or the the people killed on September 11th.
Humility is something that people with arrogance do not have. You can't let other people's comments affect who you are or how you feel.

Okay you made your point that you wanted... I'm sure there was a little more than a question there...hmmm, no statement or nothing. Anyways, i think if we go back and just look through these yahoo questions, we'll see a lot of horrific insults from atheists towards christians. I think christians should be truthful... not insulting. So to appease you... i as a christian apologize for downright disrespectful things said. But will that really satisfy you... I mean truthfuly.

I did not say anything about atheists in what you mentioned. sounds like reading the information it was good that they kicked him out for obviously this person was disturbed. To bad the boy did not get the help he needed. He was not a Christian but trying to fit in. Wolves try to get into sheep's clothing and Satan is at the hand if these people to ruin the Christian message and persona.
I have met weirdo Christians before. Some people can be scary, I admit that.
Since many people like to classify one person as what the hole group ( Christians)is like then I will say I apologize for some People that call themselves Christians and accuse others falsely and if they were mocking and ridiculing you in any way for fun. It was wrong and they should be ashamed of themselves. I think we good Christians know how you feel. Peace.

You know better than to ask or expect an appology from a christian! The only time when they are willing to admit that they were wrong is the same day that they drop their religion and become atheists themselves.
The rest of the time they are too bloody self riteous and anal to admit fault, even if it is the most trivial of trivialities!
