If I had a cent for every time someone asked this question, I would not be answering it. I have known people who moved lock stock and kids to Arizona due to Arthritis. Fact, their is more Arthritis among the 'Native' people born and educated, in AZ than anywhere else in the world! So those people who are now 50 or 60, born in AZ, lived in AZ all their life have Arthritis, because of some genetic predisposition. Years ago I went to Las Vegas against my Doc advise? Now LV is in a Dessert, so by right the heat should really help with the Rheumatoid Arthritis and the Sun with the Psoriasis, what was the BIG problem? Umm air conditioning? The heat was too hot to maintain a normal, lets go for a nice 3 mile walk at 11am, in fact by 10am it was HOT. So while the Arthritis behaved itself, I started to cease up due to lack of exercise. By the time I got back to Europe, 10 days, the Psoriasis was cracking, splitting open and not nice. It had dried out along with my skin. The idea that AZ is good for Arthritis is a old wife tale. However I do know the local native population use tea made from some plant and sip it all day, as it eases the pain and inflammation. I think the longest anyone with Arthritis that I have known lived in AZ was 12 months, then they moved away, because it was too HOT! Just like some people prefer a hot pack for a strain, others will prefer a cold pack for a sprain.

During the winter it can get quite chilly, but If you live in phoenix you will never encounter snow. My "uncle" (technically hes kinda a distant relative, but we call him our uncle) moved out here in the 1950s because of asthma. But that was before phoenix got all urbanized, polluted, and all these foreign plants were introduced. honestly in southern arizona you will never encounter snow (well extremely rarely, we will get like an inch a decade ---like last year in tucson for example) But in phoenix it still gets quite chilly (approaching freezing) Honestly Florida and Hawaii have the warmest winters in the whole country. Arizona is a desert so unlike tropical hawaii and subtropical florida it gets far more extreme temperatures (summer max 115-120 degrees F; winter min. 30-40 degrees F) If you can afford it I will recommend hawaii

Hot, dry atmosphere does help. Wether you still need meds or not depends how bad you are to start with.
