How do you record a TV show on a blank DVD?

just got direct TV and a flatscreen and i want to record a show at 10:30 on Cartoon Network
but the DVD player I got doesn't have a VHS player so can I use a blank DVD instead?
Help...

I got limewire,,,got the videos i want
and now how do I put it on a DVD?

You can only record on that blank DVD if you have a DVD Recorder. If you only have a DVD player you can't do that.
