Perhaps when you are talking online, you present yourself as a bit different than you are in real life and when they meet you, they're taken aback because you're not the person they thought you would be. Do you stretch the truth any when you're talking online? Are you really nervous or talk about yourself too much when you meet in person? Does the photo you give them online only present the best of the best photos of yourself? This is a very difficult question to answer without both seeing how you are online and then how you are in person.

I do not know how you look like but I think you are a beautiful person. I don't think anyone is ugly, Beauty is very subjective.
What matters is the heart. There is no love if someone likes and talks to you only for your beauty. It is very superficial. Look for someone who values you as a person. In the long run, that is the only thing that really matters. Believe me. I know.

give a picture, but...

there's all sorts of pervs and child molesters
on the internet.
do it the NORMAL way and put yourself
out there in the real world. internet dating
is for shut-ins and unattractive people!

One question that comes to mind is are you representing yourself as something you are not?
If you are being honest before you meet these people then they should not be surprised by your looks or behaviour.
