Interviewer: Do you have any thoughts on the Catholic pedophilia issue? While the Vatican has handed out hundreds of millions of dollars to cover this up, do you think they’ve gotten off too easily so far?

-ROSEANNE: Most all religions are pedophile cults, I think. The Catholic Church will go completely broke before everything is over.

The main reason that the Catholic church has more than its fair share of pedophiles is that many of them joined as a way to get away from those desires. They recognized that there was a problem and though that the training for the priesthood could teach them how to live without those desires, to live the life of a celibate. (It is a common misconception that there is some great and powerful secret that is possessed by the Catholic priesthood that teaches them how to live without sex. and many men with societally unexceptable desires [pedophilia, homosexuality, various and sundry fetishes] sought refuge there for that knowledge.) That, of course, didn't work and instead of being taught how to live without those desires they found themselves with a steady supply of those to visit those desires upon.

I doubt the church will go completely broke, but they will have lost a great deal of credibility and certainly new conversions will slow down drastically. As for the comment aobut most ALL religions being pedophile cults I have to disagree with that, after all, I haven't heard of similar reports coming from any OTHER religion, not even the ones that seem to draw the most opposition from outsiders.
