Im curious as to how the motion senceing aspect of the six axis controler functions as there is no sensor unit like the Nintendo Wii has, so im curious if anyone knows, i was thinking possibly a mercury switch but if that were the case wouldnt there have to be a warning on the controler of the mercury content?

No, theyb won't use a mercury switch. It's probably the same motion sensor as use in some wrist watches (a parody on serious gyroscopes).

It's not exactly a motion sensor. More of a tilt sensor. Swinging the controller won't get you much good. There is, however, flicking and shaking the controller in addition to the tilt. Not really sure on the mechanics of it though.

The sensor for motion sensing is inside of the PS3 controller itself. Also, a particular game has to be made to use the Sixaxis controls. A game that wasn't created to use the Sixaxis controls in the game will not use the Sixaxis controls.
