You can wait until the morning versus paying the extra $$ for it. It is normal for a kitten to puke and deifcate worms at such a young age, it's their way of letting you know they have them. The meds are going to take a while to work anyhow, you'll actually recieve 2 doses to give (1 now and 1 for in 10-14 days) to make sure they get totally cleared up. Usually these worms will actually come from their mother after they were born, but she could have gotten them at the shelter as well. You should take a sample of the worms with you to the vets in the morning though so they can be sure to treat specifically for the right kind of internal parasite. As well as bringing your kitty in for an accurate weight for meds and possibly a check up. Make sure you wash your hands and clean up after the kitty really well, so it doesn't spread to any of your other animals, much less possibly you. You should probably contact your local animal shelter to let them know as well, so hopefully they can treat the other cats, and keep it from spreading rapidly. If it makes you feel better, you could always call the emergency vet and ask them for their advice on this over the phone rather than worry about it all night- might put you at ease a little more as well. However, would recommend keeping your $$ and just getting it taken care of in the morning.

Thats what dewormers often do, is have the worms cast from the body. Give the lethargy a little time to pass. Any more than 24 hours, and it's time to call the vet.

Many kittens that have not had a good home are infected with worms. At 4 months of age, while it is disturbing to know he is infested with live worms, if he is otherwise attentive, not lethargic to where he just lays around with no interest in anything, I would think it would be perfectly ok to wait until the next day the vet is in the office for the kitty to be checked out.

If the cat is vomiting worms it means that this cat has had worms for awhile and is heavily infested. Call the emergency vet and get their opinion. They may give you the OK to wait until the morning. The cat must be seen very soon as these worms deplete the system of nutrients and vitamins. Most likely the cat also has tape worm.

I wouldn't wait too long, but it is not something that requires an emergency vet visit. I've been doing cat rescue for many years, and yes, sometimes they get worms so bad the puke them up. I'd get it to the vet tomorrow if possible.

If that cat has worms bad enough to puke them out , he needs medical care imidiately. Another reason is that he is only for mothhs. If a kitten gets worms under six months of age he either had a desiese, or got it from his mother. and if so it would just be temparary. Even tho it might not last is he got it from his mom you still need to take him to see the vet. and if you have not gotten his shots i suggest you ask about getting his six month shost a bit early. if you take him to the vet he will probably give you a dewormer and an antibiotic. the dewormer decongests all the unhelthy parasites out of his body and the antibiotic will make sure the parasites were flushed and were flushes out properly. get better soon kitty :)

If you have a decent pet store in your area open this late, look for a de-worming product containing pyrantel - there are several available OTC, in both liquid and tablet forms. They're also available through catalogs or online, but there's a delay for delivery. Dose according to weight, and repeat in 3 weeks; also de-worm about every 3-6 months if the cat goes outside.
(Note: Products with piperazine are cheaper but not nearly as effective, and they cause severe GI irritation in some pets.)
Unless the cat is severely dehydrated or has bloody diarrhea, you can probably wait until morning to see the vet.

Yes, take the poor thing to a vet and get her wormed. She will probably need a couple of treatments to get them all. I'm sure her belly is rounded b/c her intestines are full of them.
You can wait until morning, though. No need for an emergency visit.
