She constantly walks around the yard when let out. she doesn't pay attention to something for very long. I know we just got her from the pound, but she's very strange. She gets along with the other dogs, but accidently killed the guinea pig. She hasn't bitten any of us (kids) and is friendly for the most part. but I was wondering if it's possible for a dog to have A.D.D?

Not that I have heard of and I have worked for many vets. If the dog is a puppy then it is normal, You said you just got her from the pound well the dog has to adjust just like you do from the life she had to the life she has now. Get a clicker from pet smart or any pet store, This will grab her attention. Get some little treat and do this about 20 times click the clicker and give her a treat until she puts two and two together that when she hears that sound she gets a treat see how that works. Good luck

some dogs are a little slower to develop than others.ur new dog just needs time to adjust to the new surroundings and u will get to know her ways as time passes.she might have thought ur guinea pig was food.she sounds like she was on her own for a while and justs takes life in stride.when i first got my 2yr old shepard mix he was very quiet and did the same thing, with in a few weeks he was running and playing and barking and just in dog heaven with joy so i'm sure with lots of love, good food and care ur will have a good dog.sorry about ur gp.

Part of it may be her breed. Some dogs are more nervous than others. And she's trying to get used to her new surroundings, and is smelling every pee spot that every went on in your yard. I'm sure she'll settle down after awhile. Just give her plenty of loving and let her know she has a secure home.

We think our dog has ADD. We'll let her out to go potty and she'll get distracted and forget she has to go then need to go back out to go again. We've just had to be patient with her and remind her why she's out there. Or pull her away from what is distracting her. We haven't had her diagnosed, but I do think it's possible for a dog to have ADD.
