Being moral is good for you and society. It makes no difference how religious you are. I have seen both sides of the coin. I've seen very religious people who are davout followers and I've seen the hyprocits who pray and not practice the gospel. Just be a good and decent human being.

I think religion can be useful, once it evolves to a certain point. Think about Hellenistic civilization. Around the time of Christ, they were moving more to philosophy and achieving greater things. Now, take the Renaissance. The leaders laxed up on religion, and science and art flourished. Then, in the Enlightenment, Christians began questioning the fundamentals which the Reformation didn't touch. I think stupid literalism, like worshipping dumb Jesus, is dumb and harmful, but Unitarians Universalists, who don't believe in him, are still good for society.

yes somewhat because religion does influence your views, moral beliefs, and ideals.
most religions out there(I think) forbid against murdering so not only is it enforced by basic moral beliefs it is also influenced by the threat of consequences in your afterlife.if your christian and you murder someone and show no remorse or anything your going to go to eternal hell.in hinduism you would be reincarnated as a lower thing(I think)
they also teach you to be kind towards others and things liek that.so religion basically helps to eforce morals.
however religion also interferes with modern science adn things like that. This creates contreversy and on the internet flame wars which really are no fun for anyone
i know im being a bit confusing so im just gonna try to get one statement out

religion whether you notice it or not influences your life alot.sometimes it helps you to make "right" decisions or "wrong " decisions.for example christianity is against homosexuality and that influences a person's view on it as a whole, but if there was no christianity then i doubt people would be against it at all.ok so this example shows how religion influences your life on a conscience level but i have had a long day adn although im not one to make excuses im tired and i dont even remeber what i typed.hoped i helped but i probablty didnt

If all you did was be religious, you missed the point. Christianity is a relationship with God. Bathe in His Word, talk to Him, praise Him with others. I have just learned this recently, and wow, I am amazed.

I think it is good for you. People need something to believe in. They need a source of comfort in their lives and if they find this from religion, good for them. It doesn't hurt anyone and it helps them through tough times. It is also good for people who fear the reprisals of sin because the threat of eternal damnation is the only thing that keeps some people from doing harm.
