If a guy has to say he needs a chase, then he feels as if you are to readily available and possibly needy. Guys are all different, so making a blanket statement would be unfair. Some guys like a chase, and what they mean by chase, is a girl who keeps them on thier toes. Go out with your friends, and since you are taking a break from the relationship, it's time to re-invent yourself. If you are on a break and have clearance to date other people, do it! Sometimes you don't know what you got until it's gone. Maybe he needs to realize this.
But don't drive yourself crazy with games and worrying about how to make him "chase" you. If he don't know how to do it on his own, then it is not you with the problem my dear.
Maybe the kind of love you offer is sweet and loving and maybe he wants something superficial. A good woman is not determined by if she "gives him a good chase". It is what is inside your heart that matters. Maybe it is time to explore other relationship possibilities. And don't be scared to let go. Sometimes change is hard, but it will open doors to your true soulmate. Sometimes you must remove the barricade in order to let true love in.
If you are not interested in true love and this relationship is more physical in nature or just for fun, then by all means - give the boy a chase. Shut off your cellphone for a few days, change the message, create an air of mystery about you. Do not be so predicatble, be more spontaneous, don't call him for a few days then call him out of the blue just to say what's up. Talk like friends, don't sweat him, make him sweat you. Show him that you got what other guys want and you know it. But don't talk about it, show him. Spark a little jealousy, but be careful. Sometimes it could backfire. When someone tells you they want a chase, that comes from boredom of the same ol' same ol'. Be careful, this is also something some guys say before a breakup. Brace yourself for the worse, but boost your own confidence so you can overcome it quickly. Hopefully you two will go on and live a life of happiness!Only you know for sure..
Embrace that inner hottie and go with it, he will see.
I hope this helps!

Sounds like he's into mind games, so I personally wouldn't bother, but if you like that kind of thing, be prepared for a lot of on-again, off-again drama. Seems like he gets bored easily, and would often be tempted by the thrill of chasing a new prospect...

Refuse his calls. When you do take them, tell him you're busy and can't talk much. Let him hear a male's voice in the background. Sadly, these are all games that can backfire. I'd just say "when you feel ready to commit, give me a call. If I'm still single, we'll see what happens."

Just stay on break as long as you can, just when he thinks the break is over add another day. Each day will be harder and harder for him and you. If you really love him dont make him wait too long.
