I have a feeling you are confusing a tax return, which is the paperwork you have to submit to the Internal Revenue Service, with the tax refund, which is how much you might get back if your return shows that you overpaid. Anyone earning an income should file a return, and in your case it will probably help you because you are likely to get a refund of the taxes taken out of your checks, because your income would be low. How much you get back would depend upon the amount you made and how much you paid, and we can't tell you that without filling out the return.

File a return. Anyone who has income reported to the government (with taxes taken out) should file.
