my daughter has a stye (i think). Although, it is very hard to notice...just a small bump on her eye lid; not red. She said it was uncomfortable, but can play, and act normal etc. Do I have to put a compress on this inflamation OR can it go away by itself without touching it? I fear that if I "pop" it by a warm compress that it can potentially become infected.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Don't mess with it. You can't pop it, it's not like a pimple, so don't even try. Styes DO hurt b/c they are in and amongst eyelashes, which have senstive roots on them.

Usually styes are an eye infection that seem to come about from lack of rest/sleep. Make sure your DD is getting plenty of rest.

A hot compress will make it feel better for her. Just get a washcloth wet w/ as hot of water as she can stand and get her to hold it on there.

I think a stye is more skin-tag than pimple. I doubt a true stye would "pop." In any case, popping it is not really particularly dangerous, it may do so on its own, but if concerned, err on the side of her young healthy body just taking care of it on its own.

Leave it be - the more you touch it the more inflamed it will become and if you "pop" it, she will likely get other small ones from the bacteria spreading. It usually is self-limiting. If it is getting larger or more painful, consult her pediatrician.
