I thought America was about liberty and freedom. If the goverment can regulate PERSONAL things that don't affect other people, it is NOT FREEDOM.

As a matter of fact, why are there seat belt laws? Drinking laws? Smoking? Drug abuse laws? These "crimes" are victimless as they only hurt the INDIVIDUAL committing them. Now, driving a vehicle after getting high or drunk is different because you actually threaten others' safety, but doing that stuff on your own property should be perfectly fine and not illegal.

If euthanasia is illegal, doesn't that make the American goverment FACIST??? i dont think goverment should regulate private things, like marriage (which is why gay marriage shouldn't be illegal either).

It's not illegal in the USA - Oregon permits physician assisted suicide, and last time I checked, Oregon is in the USA.

The same reason it is illegal in most countries, because it is a very charged and difficult issue and because most of us don't have the background knowledge to know if palliative care is sufficient or not.
Not to mention concerns of abuse, considering that the US spent 16% of GDP on healthcare in 2005 and that catastrophic illnesses can be exorbitantly expensive, it is possible to picture a scenario where one is pressured to be euthanized, so they don't use up their accumulated treasure.
Finally, I think the US is largely a country a hope and no matter how parochial or unlikely, as long as someone is fighting, there is hope, once they die, that hope is extinguished.

Euthanasia seems like a victimless crime.

But wait. if your dying of cancer then who gets to say that it is incurable.

People go into remission some times--

If your sick and dying of anything. Suppose the doctors tells you that he can help by "FINISHING" the job that some disease started. So you agree for a modest fee.

Now five years down the road people find the doc has been diagnosing a "very high number" of terminal cases.

So you've been murdered by some whacko trying to make a buck. Now suppose that was not you but your mother, or Grandfather.---

Suppose some Doctor makes the wrong diagnosis because of improper X-rays.

Now you start to see a problem with ETHANASIA.

Now lets see from the doctors point of view--YOUR TERMINAL AND YOU GOING TO DIE!.

You go see another doctor and get a different opinion.--"Hell I can fix that by next weeks TEE TIME.

SO do you get to sue the first doc. Suppose doc 1 and 2 were reversed.

Now he missed finding the cancer when you had a chance to save yourself--but now your DEAD MEAT!

Things are very Murky,

Now lets say it's government care, Your old and you are costing the over burdened tax system a fortune--you tell the doc--I think I have pnumonia--and he says--"Hell you'ved lived a good life--but we are just gonna have to put you down."

Who wants to think of the abuses that could transpire.

It is not illegal to euthanize in USA. How do you think the Humane Society make room for more animals. After a couple weeks or so of an animal not being adopted they usually euthanize them.

because their are too many greedy children that would take advantage of any legal euthanasia for illegal purposes of getting their families money etc.

I have to agree with Paul, and the poster of the question. If a person wants to die and they are suffering it is nobodies right to tell them they cant die.

I would suggest that, first, you sit down and read a book called "dictionary".
Read a book on the various forms of government.
Don't forget, euthanasia is MURDER; murder is not only against every religion on earth, it is illegal everywhere.
