Okay, I really like this girl and she's about my age.(I'm 14 Freshmen). I'm kinda friends with her, I talk with her when I see her sometimes, (at like church retreats or something, and she doesnt go to my school). I want to ask her out, but I'm not sure if it is the right time to do it, cuz I'm not sure if she has a bf or not. I'm not sure how to ask her out, or start a good conversation going to strengthen our friendship. Also I know a lot of people say "be yourself" but I dont really get what that means. SOMEBODY HELP!!!!!!

Well if being yourself includes things like being nice, sweet, friendly, humorous... all those things work.
Don't over-impress, but simply be yourself.

Talk to her. You can compliment her. Like simple compliments, like "cool shirt" or "you wore your hair different, looks good that way". Any little, subtle compliment is always nice.

Bring up things like music, movies you want to see or liked, things or hobbies your interested in. Find out if she is into any of the same things. If she is you could tell her you want to see a certain movie and if she says "me too", you have the perfect opportunity to ask her if she wants to see it with you. Or if there is a certain band/artist she likes, talk about your favorite songs. You can even burn her a CD if you have the music already. Don't go out and buy her a CD, because it may come across too strong or make her feel uncomfortable, like she "owes" you something. But if you make it, it's a nice gesture and can make her feel special, but at the same time, it's something even "friends" would do.

Just get to know her better and let her get to know you better. If you both like each other it will start to be obvious.

One thing that turns girls off is when you come on too strong or act like somebody else. She'll be able to tell if you are faking your personality. If you're interested, show her a few signs but don't go overboard until you feel she may be reciprocating the same feelings.

Good Luck!

dude, you have gotta believe and rely on what you have insisde, a simply hi, goes along way. saying hi, starts the conversation, asking how was your day? whatever happened throughout her day, like she went to school.(key:school= topic) then other ppl=gossipping, the conversation will continue to flow from there on, if you say the right things.(never ask what are you doing this weekend) and be attentive.
