First off, the dog would of had to break the skin in order to give you rabies. Rabies presents its symptoms within ten days of infection, That dog would be very very sick right now if he had rabies when he bit you.
I;m an animal control officer and when someone is bit, the dog undergoes a ten day quarantine, because that's the time period the symptoms will occur. Sounds like you have nothing to worry about. your OK.
In the future, if this happens, check with the dog's owners to see if its vaccinated for rabies. You could still check and see if it was vaccinated during the time you got 'nibbled'.

if a dog were at the point that it could transmit rabies--then it would die with in 10 days. So you have nothing to worry about. However if it were a wild animal that bit you--just so you know, you should be concerned. There have been several cases of humans being bitten by something like a bat and developing rabies several several months later.

Nope, you definately do not have rabies. First of all-I was bit by a wild kitten this past summer-and this is what the Health Department told me: Rabies is only contagious in the last 10 days of the infected animals life-so if the dog is still alive--your ok--you can relax now.

No you dont have rabies. The dog would be dead by now if it had rabies. I wouldn't worry about it. rabies has been controlled since 1995 only 19 people have died from rabies since 1995 chances of a dog having it are slim to none. I wouldn't worry about it.

Good grief...people have absolutely no clue at all about rabies!!
No you do NOT have rabies and neither does the dog!!!!
******the 10 day quarantine rule is ONLY for animals that are current on rabies vaccinations and have had no known contact with a rabid animal...it is 30 -45 days for animals that are current on rabies vaccinations but have had known contact with a rabid animal....it is 6 months for those animals that aren't current on rabies vaccinations or whose vaccination history is unknown that may have had contact with a rabid animal and it can be forced euthanasia for those who have had contact with a known rabid animal, symptoms do not always present themselves within 10 -30 days...it can be considerably longer.***********

IF THE DOG LIVES PAST 10 DAYS, YOU ARE FINE
The dog lives, you are good.
Next time you get bit, ask the owner to observe the dog for 10 days, and ask about his rabies vaccine status. It will help you.
Sooooo don't worry any more. If the dog would have died, they would have checked the brain for rabies. If positive, they would have given you the shots. Anyhow, it is over now and you are fine so don't worry.

You would be long dead by now if you had rabies.
Hypochondria... perhaps.
Rabies... Not a chance.

Dane: The normal incubation is between 2-12 weeks and unless this kid that got a SCRATCH from a suburbian neighborhood dog 6 MONTHS AGO that is also doing just fine is also running around playing with bats... Nope I stand by my statement above.

Unless the dog has rabies you don't.
The dog would most likely be showing symptoms by now and you would already be sick.
If you still worry you can get tested at a doctors but if you tell them what dog it was they will catch it and possibly put it to sleep. So unless you want them to do that you would have to say it is a stray.
