I was wondering the same thing... what kind of church needs para-military style protection? What do they do in there? What all goes on there?
Are they afraid the church down the street is going to arm their partitioner's and attack?

If there were locked doors, then there wouldn't be people in the church for service...would there?
It happened at like 9 AM on Sunday, getting ready for church...not much you can do with locked doors when people are entering through the doorway...
Just because Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace doesn't mean everyone is respectful of others, or sane enough to realize shooting up a church is just plain dumb!
You cannot logically come to the stereotype that Colorado has a problem with guns because of 2 separate events that happened over 10 years apart...

Most large churches have security guards. If the church had an attendance of ten thousand people, it needs to provide some sort of protection to its members.
I belong to a church that is well known throughout the nation, and they have security guards, security cameras, and an earpiece in the pastors ear.
I remember when a man walked into Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and began shooting at Dr. John Hagee. Fortunately he missed Dr. Hagee, and there were holes in the walls directly behind the podium.
There was a massacre at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX. on September 16, 1999, where a man entered the sanctuary during a youth meeting and killed and injured kids that were members of that church. The gunman, identified as Larry Gene Ashbrook of Fort Worth, shouted obscenities as he emptied three ammunition clips from a nine-millimeter, semi-automatic handgun at the gathered congregation.

You've asked MANY quesitons.
A)15 armed guards at a church with 15,000 people isn't really that many is it?
B)Locked doors and security cameras work only part time- besides, people get copies of keys, and pass around the code to get in- trust me, as a former locksmith NOTHING of these two items are ever kept controlled.
C)Even Jesus Christ had to deal with the mentally ill and insane- he normally cured them but he still had to deal with them.
D)The truth of the mater is, you have an anti-gun bias. You push your own opinions in the form of a quesiton- "And whats the deal with the state of Colorado and guns?"
OK, so whats the deal with the most dangerous area, and city in the United States- Washington, DC- where all guns are banned from private ownership?
Considering all the wars, and genocide that God himself had ordered, EVERY Christian should be armed to the teeth and be willing to deal out lethal force if required.

How would it have turned out if they didn't have armed guards?
In Colorado, it's legal to carry a gun openly anywhere in a holster except into places like a courtroom.
How would locked doors help if the person just wandered in with the congregation? And security cameras don't stop bullets.
We usually have several guns in our shul on Shabbat. Many of us lost family to the Germans, and next time, things won't be so easy on those who choose to harm us.
We are happy to give a potential killer the opportunity to turn the other cheek after we shoot him.

i'm from Colorado Springs and that i will permit you comprehend that if the armed gaurd hadn't shot the gunman, he might have killed better than the two he killed interior the motor vehicle parking zone. you may not study one article and fake to comprehend the full concern. On that notice, i do no longer think all church homes ought to have armed guards, no. New existence Church occurs to have a great campus, and that's the clarification that they had them. additionally notice that an identical gunman killed some human beings in Arvada, CO the nighttime earlier. according to risk if that they had armed guards, he on no account might have made it to New existence.

God gave us wisdom and guns for a reason. Obviously, there was a need. THANK GOD for that volunteer security guard and her gun, who stopped satan's puppet in his tracks before he could do anymore damage!!! The amount of people turning their backs on God, and serving as satan's puppets in our society the threat. That church/pastor are NOT the ones with a perception problem. It's not just a saying, it's true, if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. May God bless the families of those effected by this tragedy, including the family of the shooter.

Turn the other cheek doesn't apply to getting shot at. At least the cheek will heal! When you have so many worshipers who are there to pray with their kids, it just doesn't seem right to let someone spray 1000 rounds into the crowd who did nothing to that person

so you mean that they were just supposed to stand there while they were being shot at?
they shouldn't protect themselves or their children because their Christians?
like I've been explaining all day, its the LAW to have a certain amount of police officers, Sheffie's or a hired security contractor for a PUBLIC DOMAIN more than 50 people. the same law applies to schools, malls, amusement parks and so on. there are more than 1500 people that attend that church. the congregation fully out #'s the hired security.
the church i attend even has an armed security guard. there have been several break in's. let me guess, that's God's fault too.
LOL..what I'm getting from people is....stand in front of a bullet if God is there He will protect you. if you get shot and die...that's your fault and if God did exist He would have loved you enough to stop the bullets.

The Bible says "if you have no sword to protect your home and family sell what you have and buy one." Sounds like God has different ideas than you folks.

First of all I'm not trying to make anyone a fool but if its really a church of God and this mans a minister they don't need security. If they die its because God wants them too.If he doesn't then the guns won't work to kill them,IF that's what God wants.
