Do you think that images of the Divine, or icons, should be an important part of a conversion to Roman Catholicism? Why or why not?

If you could base your answer on two novels, Life of Pi and The Secret Life of Bees, that would be great. If not, I would still appreciate an answer. The longer and more detailed the answer is, the better =)

I haven't read the novels, but yes I believe it is important. Divine images and icons, while just pictures and statues, remind us of those who came before us that led lives we should try to emulate. The lives of Saints are examples of very dedicated people, but also very human. They were sinners at the same time as being Saints. It helps to remember that it times of doubt and struggle.

Images and icons are ok, but what matters most is the convert's commitment to a way of life, and doctrine.

Um, it depends on each person.

For me the saints are very important because they struggled through the same things I struggle through, so they know exactly how I feel and I can connect to that. Saints rock, I have four :)

But with all religions, God is above all.
