Hendrick Motorsports version of the "missing man". Being on the same team with the 3 of the most popular and 2 of the most successful drivers really has to work on your confidence and ego. Will he be able to step it up and stand out in 2008?

Like the runt of the litter. His last name is Mears so I think he will be competitive, he is with the best race team in all of motorsports.

Well he finally broke through at Lowe's Motorspeedway on Memorial Weekend the same weekend as the Brickyard 500 right where his uncle Rick Mears has won 6 times I believe.. Something like that anyhow.. I think that he will definitely break through in 2008, and its sure not because lack of talent as all of the Hendrick guys have lots of talent and its always the 3rd and 4th cars that have problems. I think that he will do better since moving to the 5 car, as that proved to have some good luck in 2007 for Kyle Busch, no matter how much I dislike the guy.

Casey is going to be fine, he probably feels honored to be in the company of these 3 big names at Hendrick Motorsports, Casey won the 600 in Charlotte this past May. Casey is not going to let any of this missing man stuff get to him, he has the talent and the best equipment out there, and being teamed with Alan G. as crew chief.. I bet Casey wins a race or two next yr..

Casey has never gotten the chance to prove himself. He drove for Ganassi for three years, and how many wins did they acquire in those three years? ZERO. Ganassi is subpar equipment. Then, he goes to Hendrick where he gets a new crew chief the week before speedweeks begin. He transitions and then does pretty well. Next year, he will not be driving the "cursed" 25 car, instead will get the 5; a proven winner. He also will have an established crew chief (and a great one at that) with Alan Gustafson. Expect more out of Casey this year.
He does have 3 of the most high profile team mates, so he will never be as popular as them. But, expect good on track results.
Oh, and it is a shame he isn't popular. You can't meet a nicer guy at the track!

I was at the Charlotte race last May that Mears won. If I'm Mears now? I'm not worried about being popular just keep feeding me the information that the other 3 have. Mears will now be a perennial race winner. Mears will do better in 08 maybe be vying for the chase until to Richmond. Won't say he'll be in but he'll be a contender....

and im a roush fan!

What better motivitation to be included in the same breath of your teammates by racing like your teammates.

Im sure Mears is up to the challenge. In the 25 last season, he did quite well for the season despite a slow start

Well Jay I`d think Casey would have to feel blessed to be driving for Hendrick, Also we can`t forget his last name
the Mears family have always been terrific racers,
He may not really stand out but I think he will stand up and be counted,no longer than he has been in Nascar with the
competition it has in it the guy shines pretty good right now
I think.

Think about it everyone's going to be looking out for the 24,48, and 88, gives Casey the chance to be really sneaky, and come from out of nowhere. If Gustafson can keep Shrub under control, Casey should be no problem really.

Yes. Send him to Penske. I think he ran better before Hendrick anyway. Bad move to go over there with those two guys. If yah know what I mean.........

Let's not get carried away with the "best equipment in NASCAR" deal Anita because you know it changes every couple years. 2 years ago JGR was winning everything. A few years before that NASCAR had a "witch hunt" out for Jack Rousch. What may have been the best equipment last year may not be the best equipment next year.

I feel honered to be on a team of that caliber. He is not an awesome driver he is just average like a montoya or sadler. But that race at lowes was sick. He is one of my favorites because of his good attitude towards everything
