I'm an 18 year old female & i recently had a staph infection (about a month ago). I was given antibiotics which I was allergic to and was admitted to the hospital for a serious break out of hives. I was put on prednizone and everything cleared up. About a week ago, I noticed a pimple type thing on my inner thigh that itched very badly. It grew to be about 2 inches in diameter and continuously itches. I soon saw another pimple type thing on my lower calf and upper chest. These 2 do not itch as bad but are very hard in the center with red all around them. Eventually the pimple turns to a scab which comes off and turns into an open wound. I had planned to go to the doctor but before i could make the appointment, I noticed my eyes were very itchy and blood shot. When i went to the doctor she said i had pink eye but was unaware as to what the rash type thing was on my body. I need some answers!!!! please help!!!

Those large pimply things you're describing are actually called boils. They're caused by staph on the outside of your body. Pimples are when bacteria and oil clog a pore. Well it's the same thing sort of but it's staph and it not only clogs a pore but several. It gets hard and painful and is often full of pus (which is what causes the hardness). A dermatologist can inject them with prednisone and they go away in a day or two. Heating pads can help, but basically impeccible skin cleansing is the best. Sometimes they're hereditary.

It's probably unrelated to the pink eye, but sounds like a really bad string of illnesses for you.

It appears that you have some issues with your immunity. A good immunologist needs to look you over. Staph infections, boils, pink eyes (probably a sty), frequent urinary tract infections all point that way. A course of prednisone also would make the preexisting immunity issues worse because it supreses the immunity.

All these things can point to a larger but hidden problem. You need a comprehensive workup

Have your doctor refer you to an immunologist as soon as possible. Also, have her do a blood workup on you with a CBC and electrolytes. And, have her try you on a limited regamin of Zovarox.

Let us know what happens.

These pimple like things sound like boils. If I was you I would consult an infection disease specialist. This is all they do.
