I hope you are joking. The people running the school have no idea what they are doing.
Nothing wrong with a hug, unless its somebody gross try to hug you when you don't want them to touch you.
This is a question you should ask your principal and teachers. If they don't have enough respect for you to explain where these messed up rules came from, well you have learned something about them.
Lets see, having boys and girls in the same school together might lead to sex, having boys and boys or girls and girls int he same school together might lead to sex, Hey wait having boys and girls on the same planet together does lead to sex, clearly to prevent sex we will just have to destory the whole planet!
It would be very interesting to find out the legal history that lead up to this complicated state of affairs ...
Maybe its time to get together with your friends, have a hug in, all get expelled and then, oh gosh, you'll just have to be home schooled ... gee to bad so sad, home school and no lame rules ...
Good luck, I'd love to hear what you find out.

Hugging isn't utterly horrible, but the fact is that middle school students are usually right in the middle of the most disorienting experience they will probably ever experience: puberty. Its just an attempt, admittedly an inept attempt, to protect you from yourselves. They mean well, but teachers aren't teachers because they're avant garde thinkers.
I've been thinking about how to handle the situation since I was in middle-school myself but have come to no conclusion that is better than the Islamic practice of separating males and females. Unless maybe its performing a vasectomy on all the boys and checking both boys and girls weekly for STDs and letting them do what comes naturally. I JEST!
Maybe really constant supervision and full length prophylactic gowns for ceremonial hugs during lunch breaks?

That is obviously a screwed up system but if the school is silly enough to set such a rule, then it is what it is. A general hug is totally non-sexual and fine. There is a huge difference between appearing to mate and a friendly hug. The school has taken this to the point of ridiculousness and should be called on it. Where are we....back in the Victorian days?

In my opinion, the only hugs that are "utterly horrible" are the fake ones...you know, the one where someone hugs you and it's VERY light and they sort of pat you lightly on your back/shoulders. If you're going to hug me, give me a real friggin hug. I won't break!!

I despise hugs. Most schools don't allow PDA, so I don't see why this is any different. The anti-hug propaganda sounds hilarious, though.
