I appear and look like a pretty healthy young male and am, except that i have a number of problems all relating to weak muscles. I've seen Physical therapists for a number of things (imbalanced or tight muscles due to muscle weakness) that are a result of sitting at my desk the whole day at work, yet others that are not physically active at all and dont have the same problems . The therapists give me a few exercises to target those muscles..but ive always seen a chiropractor b/c of weak muscles around my back my spine wont stay aligned...along with many problmes over the years such a a weaker jaw which results in a slight case of tmj, fallen arches due to weak arch muscles, and yet i try to do yoga, work out pretty often yet dont anymore cuz theres so many small exercises i have to do for parts of my body that unless i had half a day to work out like some rock star its hard to find the time. my Dr said its just the way i am but there must be some answer or deficiency to my body?help

Hi, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibro and Disc problem. Like you I knew my muscles were wasting, but what to do? I saw a PT at the Hospital who gave me some exercises. Four weeks later the PT asked me if I would be interested in a Pilate's Class? I said 'As long as I am not with teengers who are both fit and able?' Seems they have a Pilate's class for people with various health problems, so I went for it. The class was just one hour a week, mind you I was exhausted after it had to go to bed. By the time I had managed to isolate the tummy muscles, I was ready to throw the towel in and call it quits. However I stuck it out. Nine months later, just one hour a week, they were ready to put me into 'advance class?' I said 'Sorry I thought I was still in beginners?' Seems I had gone through beginners, past intemediate and now expected me to move into advance class? Look I am 49 with longstanding Rheumatoid Arthritis, not twenty something! I left but still do my one hour once a week, at home on my mat. It is all about 'core stability' and once you learn and strengthen the core muscles, everything else falls into place. I now have orthotics in my shoes as I had problems with my feet, only through Pilates was that located. You really do not NEED half a day, all you need is one hour. However you need professional help to train, learn about muscles, learn about breathing, then learn the routine that will keep you strong for the rest of your life. Failing that, give up and use a electric wheelchair, which I have been measured for, but am hoping I will never need, if I keep the Pilates up. The choice is yours!

One possibility for this could be related to fibromyalgia (men can get this as well) but I would recommend asking your primary care doctor for a referral (if required by your insurance) to a type of doctor that is called a physiatrist. A physiatrist does some of the things a physical therapist does (prescribing therapy regimens but they prescribe other things too and can do kinds of tests that a physical therapist can't) but they can actually go in to a lot more detail with history taking to be able to diagnose and treat the problem.

They can also give you a clue to other specialists you need to see if they can't help you.

A physiatrist is not the same as a psychiatrist. The job of the physiatrist is to go beyond the aspects of a Physical therapist to try and help the patient so that they can figure out what is wrong.

Smoking or eating has not something to do which contain your issues.Any scientific advice I m going to grant right this is not particularly suficient.Spinal disc herniation on the age of 18.have you ever been lifting weights improperly or reclined at a foul attitude on the sofa;nah none of this might have brought about your issues .not smoking cigarrettes or alcohol at your age.to procure a musculo-skeletal issue and the main suitable project is to pass to an orthopaedician.yet ease up on the booze ,smoke and pot.it is going to by no skill make your difficulty greater proper.pass to a expert speedy and have and early analysis .ok?
