Anyone can convert to Islam, it is not a seclusive religion. The Quran says that Islam is a religion for all of mankind. Irregardless of race, nationality, bloodline, social class, previous religion (or lack of), anyone who accepts Islam as their way of life is a Muslim.

Oh, and btw, to the first poster:

They can.... and do.

A Jew can convert to any other religion but hopefully won't. If he or she was born from a Jewish mother and is therefore a Jew by birth, this cannot be removed even if s/he should convert to another religion. However, s/he will not be considered JewISH any longer, as in the religion, community, or anything else. He will be considered as a lost/stolen Jewish soul and usually there will be some sort of outreach done to try to bring him/her back home.

EDIT: To the person who posted the "Jews for Allah" link, you should know that the people who founded that were never Jews. They were not born Jews, they did not convert to Judaism either. In fact they are radical extremist Muslims who have been under FBI and Homeland Security surveillance for several years for making bomb threats against Rabbis including Rabbi Tovia Singer, and synagogues, and against the State of Israel. They have been detained and arrested for making terroristic threats. They are based out of New Jersey, although both men immigrated from the Middle East from Arab countries. This is a bogus organization that seeks to destroy Israel and genocide Jews. Please do not believe anything you read or hear from them on their website or anywhere else. They were banned from Google (several years ago but now I see they are back there again), from Paltalk, and their own host servers have dumped them as clients many, many, many times.

Having read this question has pushed me for the last 10 minutes into looking into the association between Moses Maimonides and Sufic influences. Also his grandson Obadayah Maimonides wrote a Sufi text called "the Treatise of the Pool". There are many contemporary Jewish people who have taken a great interest in Sufism . I have a few books by a gentleman called Stephen Hirtenstein (sounds like a Jewish name to me) which are very deep studies of the works and life of Muhyiddin Ibn Al Arabi.

Whyever should a Jew convert to Islam?

If you have read your Old Testament the Promises go through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The LORD God tells you this in Genesis 17:19,21 and it continues on through both the Old and New Testament.

You will note in Genesis 17:20 that Abram has put the case for Ishmael (the son of Abram and the 'bondwoman' and God gives him blessings but they are different - v21 "But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year." The birth of Isaac and the outworking of God's will for Ishmael and Hagar are in Genesis 21.

The 'sacrifice' of Isaac is in Genesis 22. Abraham had total trust in God but God stayed his hand and Isaac was saved.

Ishmael lived 137 years Genesis 25:17.

To Isaac, the LORD God said "Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and bless you .... I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven ...And in your offspring all the the nations of the world shall be blessed." (Gen 26:2-5)

Yes, a Jew can convert to any religion they want. But they can't be both Jewish and a member of another faith. In Jewish religious law, once they embrace another theology, they are an apostate.

Some Christians claim to be Jewish as well: it's rubbish.

Of course they can. Or a Muslim can convert to Judaism; a Christian to either of the others, or either of the others to Christianity, or the same with any other religion or lack there of.

Converting to Islam is simple. Anyone can do it. To be a Muslim, you must accept two things: that Allah alone is God (without helpers such as Jesus) and that Muhammad is God's messenger. Accepting these two things makes you Muslim.
