The average weight in the male varies
from ten to twelve ounces. In the female, the average
weight is eight to ten ounces

The old wives tale is that if it is below 140 it is a boy. Above 140 it is a girl. This is not accurate though because throughout the day the babies heart rate will change. It is lower when the baby is asleep and higher when the baby is awake. I listen to my babies heartbeat every day and sometimes hers is 130's and sometimes in the 150's. An ultrasound after 16 weeks is plenty accurate, as long as the person who is doing it really knows their stuff.
