Now, consider this fact: With all of the unscheduled flights to Crawford Texas or on his political visits in behalf of the party's other bunch of inept liars that follow the same strategies. . Spend, spend spend.

In 1977 in WV we had a Governor elect to spend 10 Million for an office that only paid $100,000 or less. Guess Who he was? Hint owns 30 Rock in NY

Air Force One is a 747-200, which has a Direct Operating Cost (fuel, maintenance, etc) of $5,608 per hour (year 2000). Out of that $2,816 is fuel, and jet fuel has doubled since then, so I would say the current cost is $8,424 = [$5,608-$2,816 + ($2,816 * 2)]. There are also the Fixed Costs (Insurance, hangar, crew, etc.), but those are applied to the Taxpayers whether the plane is in the air or on the ground.

In addition to the very thorough answer given above, I imagine there are lot of 'hidden' costs - such as extra security at the airport of its destination, expenses caused by delaying or prohibiting commercial and/or private planes to be in the area at the time etc. However, I don't mind contributing to this fund - imagine the security risk of our President being in a commercial flight.
